Massive opportunities for trade with India for Irish businesses

India is the fastest growing economy in the world and has a population of 1.25 billion people. The scale of the opportunities are vast according to the Chairman of the IIBA, NilaKanthi Ford, who was speaking at the Association’s Annual Conference in Dublin yesterday.

The IIBA Annual Conference was attended by senior business executives, government officials and featured a keynote address by Minister Mary Mitchell O’Connor, TD.

It facilitated the discussion of specific opportunities for bilateral trade with India as well as the future of education, training and research with India. Specific mechanisms for building bilateral trade in aviation and aerospace, pharmaceuticals and medical devices, agribusiness and tourism were discussed by industry leaders at the seminar.

Speaking at the event, Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Mary Mitchell O’Connor said, “The trade between Ireland and India has grown significantly with record exports from Ireland last year. Irish companies and education institutions are winning business in India. There is also an increasing interest among Indian companies to set up in Ireland to gain access to the European market and this is very welcome.”
